Welcome to the world of the Supply Teacher!
A few weeks back, I returned to teaching after taking a year out to be a Mum and de-stress after working in a less than calm environment. For many months after escaping the day-to-day life of a primary school going through the nightmare that is 'Special measures', I wasn't even sure that I wanted to return to teaching. During the last few months I have considered re-training, as what??? haven't a clue.
Finally, I realised that I do enjoy teaching, it was the rest of the crap that accompanies it that I hated - paperwork, assessment, record-keeping, performance management, blah, blah, blah. I understand the reasoning behind all of it, but if the 'establishment' would only give teachers the time, resources and trust, they would find that they had a team of hardworking, imaginative and creative practitioners on their hands, instead of over-worked, stressed, tired and run-down teachers who are trying to meet every objective and can easily lose sight of the child.
Anyway, rant over, whilst searching for the right post, I decided to try my hand at supply teaching. Well, there's an eye-opener!!

Spoilt kids?
My children are relentless. I am sure mine aren't the only ones but I write this, feeling exhausted by their constant demands for entertainment. So far this weekend we have attended the enchanted park and Christmas carnival in frodsham, bought new fish for the fish tank (6 mollies) and it is now sunday.
I am just waiting for the first chorus of "what are we doing today?"
Well, personally, I shall be lying comatose on the sofa!!

Introducing moi!
Well, I should probably introduce myself. Not sure what the etiquette of blogging is, so I shall make it up as I go along.
I am a 33 yr old married mum of two girls, 5 and 3. I am a qualified primary school teacher and have just returned to teaching after taking a year out. I am a supply teacher, for my sins!! and have had good and bad experiences, even though I have only been back in the saddle for a couple of months. More on that later!
Right now, I am trying to rediscover myself! You may roll your eyes! I would! But what it actually means, that after years of teaching and being mum, I have forgotten about the things that I enjoy doing and am trying to rediscover that, and maybe try some new things along the way.
